Rural Life

John 1:4-5 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. This was the scene before me as I drove home on a summer evening. I was so drawn to the magnificently dark storm clouds and yet the orange sunset continued to shine through the sky. It was like watching a Hudson Valley River artist painting in motion. I am especially fond of Thomas Cole; he is my favorite American landscape artist.

I captured this scene one sunny February morning as Sam sat in the barn watching the chickens and hens. He was recovering from shoulder surgery at the time. The strong shadows created by the sunlight made this moment in time appealing as a painting.
